Messages from home...

Well it's good to see some of you are still around!
Thanks to those of you who've posted and those who emailed.
Specialy to vika, who actualy posted. Are you back from nam now or whats going on at your end nowadays drop me an email sometime, ok?

I'll make an apologie right now. It looks like i told less of you that i was in the army than i had thought.
so i think id better update the record. I've been in the army for over 5 and a half months now. so all the shiny stuffs worn off and we're down to just having some seriouse fun. aswell as finding ways to entertain ourselves out of hours.

A brief history of my military career:
I joined up on the 4th of October, and was assigned to the flieger Regiment 2, the second air force regement. i went through my 2 month basic trainning in thier base in Zeltweg. I must say now that those two months we're cool, having a laugh on the trainning in the day and then in the evening going out for a pizza and getting drunk. Then after the 2 months basic we're up I was moved down to the regiments other base called Tahlerhof, which is basicaly Graz international airport. being just a few kilometers from home this was almost as good as the trainning months but now wasn't as much fun as we had to actualy do some work ocasionaly and not just have fun even though it was still a good laugh. Down in Thalerhof i was assigned to the watch meaning that i was one of the few people who we're allowed to wander around with live ammo. I dunno but it gives you a feeling of real responsibility when something like that happens to you. anyway shortly befor xmass, with some prompting from my dad i asked to sign up for whats called "ein Jahr Freiwillig" or one years voluntary. This is the fast track under officers course and which means at the end of the 10 month course I'll be a Wachmeister, and then i can elect to do a few more short courses and then i will be a leutenant. MMmmm... the atractions of higher rank! This meant that because there was no availability to do the course down in graz where i was, i was transfered to the "heeresPersonalAmt" or "HP@" basicaly the personnel department of the military. where I'll be staying untill at least june 3rd when i take the initial tests to join "EF" .

Yeah i know that thats a lot to go through but i'm sure you'll read it in the end.
well i think that's all for today, i might put some more up tomorrow, you never know.

As a famouse Austrian once said I'll be back... sometime.
